With a strong focus on colour and composition, I aim to capture the personality of the subject and its unique character in paint. The robust form and colour of Australian natural Flora is a constant source of inspiration.

Born in Sydney in 1966, Angela Lober started her career as a Landscape Architect in 1990. She subsequently completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Visual Art (Plant and Wildlife Illustration) at Newcastle University in 1995.

She has been exhibiting in Australia and internationally since 2000 and has a special interest in the uniqueness of Australian Flora, particularly the productive rainforest species of the east coast.

Angela challenges the discipline and experiments with materials and contemporary compositions and applications. She particularly enjoys working on calfskin vellum and the clarity and luminosity of colour and detail that can be achieved on such a refined and specialized material. Her latest works include the application of gilding and calfskin vellum, as well as working with dark dramatic backgrounds.
